Connect to your local child care support specialist
Enter your ZIP code below to find your local child care resource and referral (R&R) agency. A child care support specialist there will work with you to provide guidance on receiving child care referrals for licensed providers and how to participate in state and local child care funding programs. If you are interested in getting a license for your child care business, check out the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP).
Here are some of the other services R&Rs provide:
1. Provide training to increase your skills as a caregiver
2. Playgroups
3. Toy/book rental
4. Support/community
5. Clinics and demonstrations

What are family, friend and neighbor caregivers?
These are caregivers that are relatives of the children in their care, or care for the children of only one family other than their own. In California, these providers do not need to be licensed, which is why they’re also referred to as license-exempt providers.
