Wu Yee Children's Services, San Francisco

I have worked for Wu Yee Children's Services since 2023. Our agency serves San Francisco City and County. I serve in the role of Chief Program Officer-Family & Community Services, and previously served as Director of Family & Community Services. In addition to the Resource and Referral Department, I have oversight for the following departments: Child Care Enrollment, Child Care Subsidy, Family Child Care Home Network, Early Childhood Educator’s Pathway Program, and a training and a technical assistance support department for Family Child Care Providers.

I have continuously worked within programs impacting children and families living at or below the poverty level. Over the last 30 years, I have served as Deputy Director for Early Head Start/Head Start program, Deputy Director for a program serving homeless families, Program Officer for a First 5 agency, and Program Officer for the Department of Health and Human Services.

I hold a Doctorate of Education-Educational Leadership and Master of Public Administration from California State University, Stanislaus; a Master of Education from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona. For my Doctorate, I conducted research on the lives of African American and Latinx women who participated in the Early Head Start Expectant Families Program in California’s Central Valley. This resulted in a Dissertation entitled, “A Mixed Methods Study of African American and Hispanic Women and Their Journey Through an Early Head Start Expectant Families Program (2014)”. The purpose of the study was to determine the utility of one program in improving the program participant’s ability to parent.
