Job Description:
Position Summary: The Program Director is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to CocoKids Parent and Child Care Provider Services.

Staff Supervision
1. Hire, train, evaluate and recommend compensation for staff
2. Develop, organize, motivate, counsel, and discipline staff; recommend termination as necessary
3. Align staff to mission, vision, values of the agency
4. Align and coordinate staff activities across diverse grant initiatives to ensure cohesive execution and compliance.
Program Management
1. Supervise all grants and programs that are assigned to the Learning Institute and the Resource and Referral Department
2. Integrate the work of the parent and child care provider services with all applicable agency programs
3. Coordinate CocoKids training and technical assistance work with other public and private training institutions, family service agencies, provider service organizations and all appropriate state and local community-based organizations.
4. Design and implement new programs as needed by the community or potential funders
5. Manage the delivery of all related services in support of child care for parents and providers
6. Supervise the development of appropriate training, technical assistance and learning activities for child care providers and parents
7. Administer all on-going and one-time projects funded by government and corporate contracts
8. Review child care delivery models and parent training curriculum on an ongoing basis
9. Develop and implement ongoing evaluations of training, technical assistance and learning activities
10. Manage the coordination of the annual early learning conference
11. Continuously monitor and integrate new findings, evidence-based practices, and trends in child development to inform program planning and service delivery.
12. Evaluate data to identify trends and inform future planning initiatives.
13. Assist in strengthening the financial and operational sustainability of family child care homes and child care centers through business support, resources, and strategic guidance.
14. Support educators in implementing evidence-based best practices to enhance teaching quality and child outcomes."
Community Outreach
1. Serve as CocoKids’ representative for public education, outreach and advocacy for federal, state and local child care issues.
2. Support local family child care associations, events and leadership development.
3. Foster agency relationships with child care center owners, directors, and staff.
Administration
1. Supervise the design and implementation of policies and procedures for parent and provider services
2. Participate in the design and implementation of agency policies and procedures
3. Ensure the timely submission of accurate reports as required by CocoKids administration and/or funding sources
4. Lead the development, monitoring, and oversight of numerous budgets, providing strategic guidance and ensuring optimal use of financial resources.
5. Attend meetings and conferences and network with the other community businesses and nonprofits, R&R professionals and government entities
6. Assist in researching and writing grant proposals
Secondary Duties
1. Assist with other agency programs as assigned
2. Assume responsibility for related special projects assigned by the Program Director

Formal Education:
• M.A. degree in Child Development or related field, preferred
• or B.A degree in Child Development with 3 years supervisory experience
Practical Experience:
• Demonstrated expertise in early childhood practices
• Three years supervisory experience, strongly preferred
• Minimum of five years’ work experience in child care or a related field
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated Project Management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles
• Ability to generate accurate reports
• Broad working knowledge of funding terms and conditions, regulatory constraints
• Self-starter, independent worker, motivated
• Excellent Communication Skills
o Writing – emails, policies, papers, reports, etc.
o Listening – employees, executives, peers, clients, community
o Speaking - expressing thoughts, ideas, concepts
• Presenting – informing, advocating, speaking to large groups
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:
• Proficient with MS Office suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
• Skilled in effective Internet research
• Basic knowledge of social media, desired

• Ability to meet the requirements of daily attendance on the job for full continuous eight-hour days (f/t employee), or depending on your employment status
• Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional evening and weekend events
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license and insurance
